Barcelona based company Tropicfeel has raised $2 million for a new all-terrain shoe aimed at adventure travellers.
The travel gear brand first turned to crowd funding site Kickstarter last year with the aim of launching the ultimate travel shoe. The design allowed the sneaker style footwear to be worn comfortably on any terrain whilst looking good in any environment. Adventure travellers would therefore be able to pack just one pair of shoes to enjoy the mountains or cities and on land or in water. Over 25,000 people pledged their support to make that shoe a reality.
The company then returned to Kickstarter in April of this year with a new design. The Canyon model is said to be a new and improved sneaker for explorers and travellers. With the backing of another 25,000 crowd funding supporters, $2.3 million was raised.
Not only is the Canyon for use on all outdoor terrains but for anyone with an active, busy lifestyle. The sneaker is still the ultimate shoe for travellers due to its versatility and comfort. Designed using premium and innovative materials, other features include durability, slip resistance, lightweight, innovative laces and water friendly with in shoe drainage and quick drying material. It is available in five colours.
Alberto Espinós, Tropicfeel CEO and founder said: “We decided to return to Kickstarter as we want to build our brand from scratch using the power of crowdfunding. Solving a real need and delivering a solution that our community demands is what drives the success in our products. We’ve started with footwear but there is much more to come.”
The sneaker is also sustainably made.
“We asked our backers what they wanted us to create next. They asked us to create another sneaker. Their top three characteristics where lightweight, slip-on and comfort and to be made in a sustainable way. We were then set with a great challenge to create an even better version for ourselves and the planet,” said Alberto.
The insole and outsole of the shoe is made using recycled plastic bottles and algae bloom. To further show the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility, Tropicfeel will donate 1% of all sales to charities and funds fighting climate change, from cleaner waterways to National Parks.
