With staycations on the rise this year, we’ve chosen these experiences in England to make it a summer to remember.
To celebrate ‘The Great British Staycation’ of this year, Buyagift.com are giving up to 60% off selected experiences and family days out purchased through them. We at The Rucksack News have chosen our favourite adventure experiences to create lifelong memories this summer.
Weekend Survival Camp Experience: Exeter, Devon
Learn wilderness survival skills through bush craft and foraging. Starting on a Friday evening and finishing midday on a Sunday, the weekend will teach participants how to build shelters, forage for food, make a fire, navigate, purify water and other skills needed to stay alive in the outdoors from only instincts, wits and skills.
The weekend is run by wilderness experts for anyone aged 12 years up.
There will be outdoor hygiene facilities plus access to a woodland sauna.
White Water Rafting: Northamptonshire or Hertfordshire
An exhilarating white-knuckle experience on the water. Be prepared to work as a team and get wet on one of England’s man made white-water rafting courses as you help manoeuvre the inflatable raft around turns, twists and drops.
An experience that used to only be associated with other countries is now available at locations across the U.K.
White water tubing is also available in Northamptonshire.
Tree Top Challenge: Various Locations
Held at Go Ape sites across the country, this experience will have you swinging from the treetops. The challenge consists of bridges, tunnels, swings and zip wires as you make your way around an obstacle course set in the forest canopy.
Expect to get dirty whilst feeling the adrenaline flow.
Amongst other locations this experience is available in Cumbria, North Yorkshire, Kent, Hampshire, Devon, Greater London and the Midlands.
Canal Kayak Tour: Camden, Greater London
Paddle along the Regents Canal in a kayak. Pass the Regents Park Zoo, Snowdon Aviary and see giraffes whilst travelling towards Camden Lock and the bustle of Camden Town.
Kayak training is included in the experience and it is recommended to view the restrictions before booking.
Ice Climbing Excursion: Manchester, Greater Manchester
Suitable for people with or without climbing experience. This adventure provides tuition before giving the chance to climb the purpose-built ice tower obstacle course. The advanced courses include canyons and overhangs.
Guests must be 14 years and over. This experience is also available in London.
The Jetovator Experience: Wirral, Merseyside
Ride the water jet-bike for a thrilling adrenaline rush. An instructor will guide participants and also control the power, taking you to the highest heights you can handle. Apparently it is just like riding a bike in the air and over water.
