Cruise company Costa Cruises is restarting their seven-day sailings around Italy throughout September exclusively for their Italian guests.
Costa Cruises are set to sail two of their ships, Costa Deliziosa and Costa Diadema on five, one-week long sailings this September. The ships will only visit Italian ports throughout each itinerary. The company’s aim is to ensure maximum safety for their guests, crew and the communities of their destinations whilst allowing Italians to enjoy a different type of staycation as they rediscover some of the country’s finest destinations. With foreign travel guidelines in place for Italian’s travelling abroad, this is an opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed and stress-free holiday.
Each of the sailings will leave from Genoa or Trieste.
The first sailing is due to depart on Sunday 6th September and the final one on Sunday 27th September. All other cruises by the company have been suspended until Wednesday 30th September 2020.
The Italian cruises will visit a selection of destinations including Bari, Brindisi, Corigliano-Rossano, Siracusa, Catania, Civitavecchia/Rome, Naples, Palermo, Cagliari and La Spezia, depending on the ship and date.
Costa Cruises is working closely with health authorities, harbour master’s offices, local institutions, the RINA, Flags State authorities, ports and communities whilst following government guidelines to restart their operations as responsibly as possible.
The company will constantly monitor the current situation to continue with a safe and responsible restart. This will hopefully result in them welcoming guests of other nationalities from October.
The onboard Covid-19 protocol has been developed in association with V.I.H.T.A.L.I. (Value in Health Technology and Academy for Leadership and Innovation). Taking into consideration all embarking, disembarking, onboard and onshore activity it has received the RINA’s Biosafety Trust Certification.
To assist with the prevention and control of infections, all guests will be required to take a Covid-19 swab test when embarking.
Costa Cruises is also offering travellers their dedicated insurance which offers specific services in the event that assistance is required.
